On 23 and 24 June 2026, Dataport and the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) welcomed a broad group of German public-sector organisations to the first Dataport Hansken Days in Hamburg. The event brought together representatives from police, justice organisations, ministries and research institutions from across Germany. This broad mix was one of the event’s greatest strengths, with organisations from across the digital-investigation chain coming together to explore how digital forensics can be made smarter, more efficient and better connected.

Introducing Hansken in practice

The Hansken Days were designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to Hansken and its role in modern digital investigations. Participants gained insight into what Hansken already supports in practice, how the platform is used operationally, and how it can work alongside specialised analysis solutions such as the Mobile Network Analyzer (MoNA) and the KiPo Analyzer.

From platform to ecosystem

The programme covered a wide range of themes, including Hansken as a European sovereign platform, Hansken Operations, practical experiences from the LKA Niedersachsen, the Beweismittelcloud Niedersachsen project, communication analysis with MoNA, and developments around AI applications within Hansken. Sessions also explored the potential of Hansken as a shared storage and analysis platform for police and justice organisations.

Strong engagement and in-depth discussions

The discussions showed strong interest in the platform and its possibilities. Participants asked many in-depth questions and explored how Hansken could help make investigative processes smarter and more efficient, while maintaining the transparency, traceability and forensic safeguards that are essential in criminal justice. And also, the event showed a shared awareness that the challenges of digital investigations cannot be solved by individual organisations alone. Bringing together operational, technical, legal and scientific perspectives creates opportunities to learn from one another, improve processes and build stronger public-sector capabilities together.

Strengthening cooperation with Germany

For Hansken, the Dataport Hansken Days were a valuable opportunity to strengthen connections with the German market and gain a deeper understanding of the needs and ambitions of organisations across the country. The event confirmed that the challenges Hansken addresses are widely shared — and that there is real momentum to address them together.

A warm thank you to Dataport for organising these first Hansken Days and for bringing together such a broad, engaged and knowledgeable audience in Hamburg.
